The Overview page is the analytics dashboard for your community. It answers the questions you would otherwise have to export a report to answer: how many members you have, how many of them are active, what they are talking about, how quickly questions get answered, and who is getting more or less engaged. Open it at Overview, the first item in the Studio sidebar.
You need the Studio Analytics View or a role with community data access to see the dashboard. Without either, the Overview page shows a welcome screen linking to the sections you can reach. See Access and roles.

Set the time range first

Every card on the page reads from the toolbar at the top, so set the time range before you interpret anything below it. The date range selector offers Today, Yesterday, Last 7 days, Last 4 weeks, Last 3 months, Last 12 months, Month to date, Quarter to date, Year to date, and All time, plus a custom range. Beneath the selector, Studio shows the previous period it is comparing against, which is what drives every percentage change on the page. Two filters sit next to the date range:
  • Team - Choose All members, Only my teammates, or Exclude my teammates. Excluding teammates is the honest way to measure community health, because it strips out your own staff’s activity. Teammates are defined under Settings > Team filter.
  • Type - Choose Humans only (the default), All (including bots), or Bots only. Because the default excludes bots, a bot-heavy channel can look quieter here than it does in Slack.
Your date range and filter choices persist between visits.

Headline metrics

The four cards across the top are the summary of the selected period. Each shows the change against the previous period.
Only activated channels contribute to these numbers. A busy channel that has never been activated for Tightknit is invisible to analytics.

Trend charts

  • Engagement plots discussion volume and member activity over time, so you can see whether a spike was a one-off or the start of a pattern.
  • Member Growth tracks member count over time. It excludes inactive members, so a flat line during a period of churn means joins and departures cancelled out.

Where engagement comes from

  • Total Engagement breaks the period’s engagement into Reactions, Replies, and Discussions. A community that is almost entirely reactions is being consumed rather than discussed, which is a different problem from a quiet community.
  • Top Channels ranks your activated channels by activity, which tells you where to spend moderation effort.

Member cards

  • Most Active Members ranks members by activity in the period.
  • Rising Stars lists members whose activity increased the most compared with the previous period. These are the people worth recognising with an award while the momentum is fresh.
  • Falling Stars lists members whose activity dropped the most. Treat this as an early churn signal rather than a scoreboard.
Rising and Falling Stars are both relative to the previous period, so they change meaning with your date range. A member can be a Falling Star over 7 days and a Rising Star over 3 months.

Response quality

These two cards measure how well your community answers people, which is usually the metric that predicts whether members come back.
  • Time to First Response shows how long a top-level message waits before its first reply. Only channels with at least one applicable top-level message are included.
  • Response Rate shows the percentage of top-level messages that received at least one reply. Only channels with at least one top-level message sent are included.

Recent Activity

The last card is a live feed of what has just happened in your community. Click through to the full Activity feed for search, filtering, and history. For a walkthrough of turning these numbers into action, see the Navigating Studio Analytics guide.

Troubleshooting

Analytics only counts activated channels. Check the channel’s state on the Slack channels page.
The Type filter defaults to Humans only, so bot messages are excluded. Switch it to All (including bots) to compare like for like.
Members who joined before Tightknit was installed may show the installation date as their join date. See Limitations.
