Configure visibility and privacy for fields displayed on the member profile page. In Studio, go to Site > Profiles and find Custom Profile Fields. Before your first sync, the section shows only a Sync from Slack button. The field list and its settings appear after you sync. For each field, you can set:
  • Shown on site - fields shown on member profile pages and in the member directory. Who can view them depends on your community site’s access settings.
  • Featured - a field shown prominently in profile previews and on the profile page. It also appears on the profile card image generated when you share a profile URL on social media. Only one field can be featured at a time, so featuring a field clears whichever was featured before. Select No featured field to have none.
The featured profile field must be active and shown on the site. A field is inactive when it is hidden in Slack, or when its type is one the site can’t show yet (see Known Limitation below). Inactive fields stay hidden from the community site. You can still change their site visibility settings or remove them as a Featured field while they are inactive. Visibility settings apply when the field becomes active. These settings are yours, not Slack’s: syncing never changes them.

Syncing fields from Slack

Profile fields come from the member profiles configured in your Slack workspace. To add, rename, or remove a field, go to Customize Workspace > Profiles in Slack. See Customize member profiles in the Slack Help Center. Slack does not tell Tightknit when these fields change. After each change, click Sync from Slack in Site > Profiles:
  • A new field appears with Shown on site and Featured turned off.
  • A renamed field takes its new name and keeps its settings.
  • A field removed from Slack becomes deactivated. It is no longer displayed on the site or in profile fields lists.
The section header shows when you last synced. If the list is empty after a sync, your Slack workspace has no custom profile fields yet. Values for a new field fill in as each member’s profile next syncs from Slack.
Known Limitation: Tightknit currently supports Text (including Text with selectable options), Link, and Date profile field types.
