# Discussions

> Browse every Slack message synced to Tightknit, read full threads, and publish or unpublish posts to your community site.

**Discussions** is the searchable record of every message synced from your [activated Slack channels](/channels-and-feeds/activate-channel). Use it to find a conversation without scrolling Slack, to read a thread with its engagement in one view, and to control which threads appear on your public [community site](/community-site/overview).

Open it at **[Discussions](https://studio.tightknit.ai/-/discussions)** in the Studio sidebar.

## The Discussions list

Each row is a top-level message. The table shows:

| Column        | Description                                                                      |
| ------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Content**   | The message text. Search matches on this and on the author.                      |
| **Author**    | The member who posted. Click through to their [member profile](/studio/members). |
| **Channel**   | The activated Slack channel the message came from.                               |
| **Feed**      | The [feed](/channels-and-feeds/create-feed) the channel is connected to, if any. |
| **Source**    | Whether the message originated in Slack or on the community site.                |
| **Reactions** | Emoji reaction count.                                                            |
| **Replies**   | Thread reply count.                                                              |
| **Date**      | When the message was sent.                                                       |

Search by content or author, filter by team membership and member type, and sort by date, reactions, or replies. Sorting by replies is the fastest way to find the conversations worth promoting to your site.

## Reading a thread

Click any message to open its detail page. You get the full thread in order, plus a details panel showing the **Source**, **Sent at**, **Edited at**, **Deleted at**, **Synced to site at**, and **Latest activity at** timestamps.

**Synced to site at** is the one to check when a member reports that a thread is missing from your site: if it is empty, the thread was never published.

## Publishing to your community site

Publishing is how a Slack conversation becomes a public page. Open the actions menu on any message and choose **Publish to site** or **Unpublish from site**.

<Warning>
  Publishing a post cascades to its entire thread. Publishing makes the post **and every reply in it** visible to members on your community site. Unpublishing hides the whole thread until you publish it again.
</Warning>

Comments can be published and unpublished individually. Unpublishing a single comment hides just that comment from the post page, leaving the rest of the thread intact. This is the tool to reach for when one reply in an otherwise useful thread should not be public.

Studio asks you to confirm before either action, and tells you which cascade applies.

  To control whether new messages in a channel are published automatically rather than one at a time, use the feed's [display settings](/channels-and-feeds/manage-feeds) instead.
